Diary of a Music Teacher: Colour Coding, Visual Representation…

Some students are aural learners; some are visual learners. Some love to see tasks to memorise them; some love to hear them to memorise them. We all have our own learning styles and strengths. With each student, it is about finding their preferred way of learning.

One of my students finds colour coding very helpful and so we often divide his work into sections and colour code different parts of the songs that he is learning. Being a visual person myself, I completely understand this learning style and always love doing the colouring with him.
