After Strike Days and Bank Holidays, it feels nice to have some sort of a routine for a few days. If for adults all these extra days off cause feelings of anxiety, imagine how it must be for children! Being thrown out of your routine for no fault of your own can really rattle some children, especially those who thrive off routine and find feelings of safety in routine.
It is a well-known fact that children with certain special needs really grave for routine. For instance, those with autistic tendencies need routines to help them feel safe and to cope. Extra days off with no particular routine are often very difficult to handle by such individuals and their parents.
Let’s show so compassion and understanding to these individuals and do what we can from our part to help them feel comfortable at school again now that school is open 🙂
