Diary of a Music Teacher: Nursery Rhymes to Motivate Students :)

Students always enjoy playing songs that they know or have heard before; there is something invigorating about learning to play a familiar tune. In my experience, nursery rhymes have proven to be particularly engaging. Even older students generally enjoy learning all time classic songs, such as ‘Old McDonald Had a Farm’ or ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’.

There are many excellent nursery rhyme books for different musical instruments. One of our favourites is ‘John Thompson’s Easiest Piano Course: First Children’s Songs’.
