All music is based on scales: it is sort of like the grammar behind all sound in order to ensure that the sound can be turned into beautiful music that can be enjoyed by all. Scales indicate what tones and semi-tones sound good together and what tone of music they will produce once combined.

There are major scales and minor scales. Major scales have a happier and brighter sound, while minor scales can a sadder and more melancholic sound. Below you can find the most commonly used major scales – please practice them to have them strongly in your repertoire!
